In the recent elections, the buzzword was affordability and it served the major Demcratic candidates well. All of them placed it at the center of their campaign.
That said, I would add that there is affordability and affordability. And here I have in mind the specific demands of the Mamdani campaigh. It focused laser like on free buses, free child care, and a rent freeze and the building of affordable housing.
This should surprise noone. Mamdani is a democratic socialist who whose main focus was on New York’s multi racial, multi national, multi gendered working class.
