Bloomberg appears to be cutting the ground from underneath Democratic Party presidential moderates. I got to think that an unintended effect is to strengthen Bernie’s hand. That would be ironic if it is the case.
Lots of buzz about (and money around) Bloomberg, but I don’t see him winning the nomination. Right now Bernie is in the driver’s seat and his lead could be baked in Super Tuesday. But stay tuned.
Polls have varied results as to the attitudes of people toward socialism. But the salient question for me is: how will Bernie, the democratic socialist, fare in the face of a sustained attack from Trump and the right wing propaganda machine, assuming he is the nominee?
The Beatles sang money can’t buy me love, but after last night’s debate we could add debating skills too. By any measure, Bloomberg, in his first appearance on the debate stage, performed woefully. And no complaints here!
This is speculative, but if Bernie has a commanding delegate lead at the time of the convention, but not quite the requisite delegates required for the outright nomination, I don’t see how someone else who is significantly behind him could be awarded the nomination, even if it is perfectly within the rules for the convention to do so. If the margin is narrower, it is a different story.
